In 2026, DEKO MedTech celebrates its 50th anniversary in infection prevention. For five decades, DEKO MedTech has been dedicated to one clear purpose: supporting healthcare professionals with reliable, high-performance washer disinfectors. What began as a local business has grown into an internationally recognized specialist.
Built to last
DEKO MedTech’s roots trace back to the early 1970s, when production was established in Naarajärvi, Pieksämäki. Designed and manufactured in Finland since 1976, the first bedpan washer disinfectors were delivered to Finnish hospitals the same year. Still operating from the original premises in Pieksämäki, DEKO MedTech continues to combine Finnish engineering with close collaboration with healthcare professionals worldwide.
One of DEKO MedTech’s defining characteristics has always been durability. Many DEKO machines installed decades ago are still in active use today, a testament to robust design, high-quality materials, and long-term serviceability. Machines are designed to perform reliably year after year, supported by spare parts availability and maintenance long after installation.
Continuous development and innovation
While durability remains a cornerstone, DEKO has continually evolved to meet new requirements. Product development has progressed together with rising infection prevention standards, regulatory demands, and sustainability considerations.
Early product development laid a foundation for long lifecycle design, with continuous improvements such as patented freshwater recirculation, pass-through models, and instrument washer disinfectors. Today, DEKO MedTech also has an international patent pending on water recirculation during the washing phase, further improving the unique washing efficacy of DEKO solutions.
Energy efficiency, optimized water consumption, user safety, and validated disinfection performance are integrated into modern DEKO solutions without compromising usability or robustness. This balance between innovation and proven engineering continues to define DEKO MedTech’s approach.
Decades to come
DEKO MedTech has steadily expanded beyond the home market. Changes in ownership and organizational structure over the years have supported international growth, while keeping product development and manufacturing firmly rooted in Finland. Over the years, more than 40 000 washer disinfectors have been delivered to over 40 countries globally.
Despite the international reach, DEKO has maintained close relationships with customers, listening carefully to feedback from end users and adapting solutions to local needs and regulations.
